Eastern Youth Orchestras Chamber Music
Chamber Music is back in Eastern NC!
It generally means that there is only one player per part, and the groups are small, most often from 2-8 people. There will be opportunities for advanced students to be challenged to higher levels, as well as students who could use more help developing skills like listening, sight-reading, and some specific techniques. Each group will have coaching from professional musicians each week, led by violinist Jake Roege of the Triforce Quartet, a professional string quartet that focuses on music from video games!
Current members of Junior or Senior Orchestras with proficient reading skills, displaying competency in shifting, vibrato, tone production, and musical interpretation. (Coaches have the right to deny participation on the basis of appropriate instrumentation.) There are 16 string and 6 wind spots available. The Chamber Music Program is a 9-week program designed for musically advanced students to focus intensively on a chamber work. Grouped by ability, students will rehearse assigned chamber works starting October 2 each Thursday from 7-9pm. The last rehearsal will be Thursday, December 4, with the final concert TBD but likely December 8. Coaches for the strings groups will be violinists Jacob Roege and Liz Ivy Wilson, coaches for the winds will be oboist Bobby Burkett and flutist Alison Mossey.
